Sometimes the tiger beetle's intended prey fights back. A number of species are protected by defensive compounds, body morphology, or behavior. Ants tend to be rather selfless, sacrificing themselves for the good of the colony. In this case, an ant that was captured managed to grasp onto the C. togata's antenna and, it maintained its grip even in death!
